Fire Starters From Cardboard Tubes
I am all about repurposing. I try to reuse, recycle and repurpose any time I can. I also love camping and a great campfire is the best! I have the best marriage of repurposing and campfires! Homemade fire starters. For this project you will need a few cardboard tubes, dryer lint and some tissue paper or newspaper.
Most everyone has a dryer and thus, dryer lint. Well, dryer lint is a great firestarter! Everyone also has cardboard tubes, from paper towels and toilet paper. Also a great fire starter! Everyone has old newspapers or tissue paper lying around somewhere and, you guessed it, also a great fire starter!
My family saves dryer lint in a small trash can in the laundry room for this project.
Take your tube and stuff it with the dryer lint.
Then you take your tube and lay it on the paper, cutting the paper about 2 - 3 inches past the ends. It doesn't have to be perfect.
Next you simply roll the tube up in the paper.
Then you tuck in the ends. No glue or wax, just tuck it in. Who would want to burn glue anyway?
When you are ready to use them, just pull out a bit of the end paper for lighting and place it under your kindling wood and spark it up. Whoosh! Instant fire!
I like using tissue paper because I like the colors and it goes up like a Roman candle, but the newspaper will do the same. You could also repurpose paper shopping bags for this project. Stay away from the newspaper inserts or magazines that have the glossy finish. Those are not healthy to burn.
And there you have it!, A quick and easy DIY that will get your home fires or campfires burning in no time. This project is so simple, you can let your kids make them. Its a fun and simple project the whole family can do together and everyone will be a happy camper!

Perfect! I saved our lint and tubes and old tissue paper from stuffing gift bags. We are going camping this weekend and I could never start a fire! Lol! Btw can I'll use a dab of Vaseline in the lint just to make sure it does stay lit. Thank you for this! š„š„
