Wicker Dresser Makeover
This is the best kind of challenge, staging for a client using what they have.
This dark wicker dresser was in great condition, it just needed some love.
After a quick wash, I gave it a sand using 80 grit paper. The wood looked great!
I only used one coat of primer because I'm impatient, then two coats of white paint I had left over.
I planned to grey wash the top with watered down chalk paint but there were a few dark marks on the wood that came through, so I just chalked painted it grey.
While drying, I placed it in the area to see if I liked the look. Looked good to me!
For the drawers, I don't have a pic but I just brushed chalk paint on them, the same paint as on the top. It was very quick and only needed one coat!
The finished product. I think it looks great and cost nothing!
I'm still on the fence about the handles. I think I will sand them down, make them look worn and dry brush white or grey chalk paint. Any other ideas would be great!
Funny thing, about a week later I was in Homesense and what do I see? Something very similar, smaller and pretty expensive!
Another reason why I love working with what we have instead of just filling up the dumps and buying new.
What do you think?

Wow! I love giving old furniture new life, especially when it’s something unique like a wicker dresser. A fresh coat of paint or stain can completely transform it. I’ve done something similar with a client’s piece, and adding new hardware or a decorative touch can really elevate the look. For inspiration, I often browse Wayfair as they have great ideas and accessories that help tie everything together. It’s amazing how a little bit of love and creativity can make a huge difference.
