Making A Oyster Shell Candle Holder

If you love beach projects your will love to make this Oyster Shell Candle Holder Diy. You will need several dozen of cleaned oyster shells.Try to set aside oyster shells that are similar in size . I have worked with oysters before, but this project proved to be one of the most fun. I'm lucky because I get my oyster shells at the May River only a few blocks away. Whether you are using oysters from the beach, or buying from a local oyster factory or craft store, don't forget to wash them with a combination of water and cider vinger. The cider vinegar lightens naturally without any chemical smell or irritation to the skin... For more beachy projects here or here
Suggestion: Before you take this adventure of making a Candle Holder decide if I want to make a small, medium or large . You be the judge. The candle holder in the photo above is a large one, Its has 6 layers of oysters. About 30 oysters. Pick about 15 similar size oyster shells to use for the candle holder.
Step 1: Take 3 flat oysters, place in cup and glue them together.
Step 1: Take 3 oyster shell and place in cup. Use a glue gun to adhere the shells together.
Step 2: Take the shells out of cup. Start adding more oyster shells as feet. Start layering them. You can make as big as you like. Make sure you use the glue gun in all the cracks to adhere the shells well.
Gorillia glue sticks are the best for durability than the standard glue sticks.
This is a version of a medium with about 2 layers of oysters. Enjoy!

  • Oyster shell, glue gun, glue, small candle and cup   (Etsy has many site that sell oysters shells.)
