DIY Wood Vase
Makeover a cheap vase and bring some whimsy to your décor.
I want to show you today how easy it is to create a DIY wood vase out of just a few things from the dollar store. I started with a glass cylinder vase.
I also grabbed a Tumbling Tower game. It was like a miniature Jenga.
I really wanted to expose the wood grain and didn't necessarily want the natural finish that the wood pieces had. You can always use the blocks as is though or stain them with your desired color.
For my blocks, I decided to stain them with coffee. I used two containers I had,
and then I poured coffee on top of all of the blocks. I let the coffee soak into the wood pieces for 30 - 60 minutes.
After they sat in the coffee I went ahead and removed them and laid them on a wire tray to let them dry.
Once they were dry it was time to assemble them around my glass cylinder. I found that my vase took about five around to look good.
I used my favorite glue, E6000 to hold the block together once I got them stacked how I liked them. I used the transparent E6000.
Working one layer at a time I continued until you get to the top of the vase. Make sure to add a dab of glue to the bottom of the blocks where they make contact with each other and the back of each one where it makes contact with the vase.
Once I got close to the top of the vase I decided to continue my pattern up one more row. This made sure to covers the top of the glass cylinder.
After adding the top row that was all that I needed to do. I really love how cool the coffee-stained wood looks. It was so easy to create this DIY wood vase and very budget-friendly.
