I knew I wanted to have an accent wall in my husband's office/music studio. My husband has a really simple style, manly. So, I figured wood is the way to go. A wood accent wall. Like a cabin! Doesn't get more manly than that, right?
So, along with my hubby, we turned into our alter egos and became, The DIY Duo, which we do pretty often, and tackled this project. Check out my YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/gracefulandlovely

This is the bare wall. It was so boring. I just knew something had to be done! It was definitely time to add some character to the room.
This is the paneling I used. I purchased this at Lowes. The direct link is here: http://go.magik.ly/ml/qp7/
We used the Ryobi Air Strike. This power tool has saved so many headaches. It's honestly our favorite thing in the world. Here is the link: http://go.magik.ly/ml/qpb/
We loved the panels we used. Normally, these are using vertically ( you know that old school way) but we went the horizontal way. It just looked awesome. The click & lock panels are definitely the way to go. It just makes things so much easier.
Darryl was definitely happen when the planks flushed in perfectly. If you are a DIYer, you know those battles :)
I was so excited with how the wall was turning out at this time. The wall was starting to take shape and I knew it was my time to shine with my staining.
I chose to stain the wood already in the wood versuus doing it before. I wanted to see the planks on the wall first. I'm a visual person. Some people rather stain before, but I didn't have a problem with this technique at all. talk about how much I love staining on my YouTube channel ALL THE TIME. Staining is the best thing ever! I mixed a concoction of Fruitwood and Dark Walnut for this wall.
I use old rags to stain, it works so much better than using brushes throughout the whole time. I do use brushes (above) when it comes to the corners.
Isn't this just gorgeous? I didn't want to stagger the planks for this wall because I wanted to look like a cabin. Staggering the planks can look awesome if you are into that but for this wall, the symmetry was perfect.
This was Darryl's first time seeing the finished wall. I didn't let him see it until he came home from work. He loved it! If you want to see his reaction, click on the video above.

Why stain it , it was really great without the stain?
I looked at the product link, and saw mixed reviews. Did you have any trouble with the planks?
