DIY Vase Ideas
Today I will show you how to add a pop of color to your home with some crayons and a vase!
The first thing I needed was some old crayons. It didn’t matter if they are broken or whole.
The papers need to be removed so I used my straight-edge knife to do that.
I used a variety of blue, purple, and white crayons to get a color scheme together that looked nice.
For the next step, I needed a piece of parchment paper and my knife.
I used the craft knife to shave down the sides, creating little flecks of wax. You want to do this until you have a nice big pile of wax of all the colors.
Once I had a big pile of wax shavings here, I grabbed a vase I had picked up at the Dollar Tree and my heat gun. You can also use a blow dryer if you don't have a heat gun.
With an oven mitt on the hand, I was using to hold the vase, I warmed up the vase with the heat gun.
Once the vase was nice and warm I added the crayon shavings to the inside of the glass. I shook and twisted the vase to create a speckled look. The crayons have a pretty low melting point, so they stuck to the warm glass.
Then, with the shavings in the vase, I used the heat gun again, constantly moving the vase to warm up the glass. The shavings continued to stick to wherever I had warmed up the vase.
You can put more heat on certain areas if you want them to clump together a little bit more or shake it up a little bit. What I love about this technique is that you can make all different types of vases depending on what colors of crayons you choose and how much you choose to melt the wax.
If you hold the heat and concentrate it in one area for a long time, you're going to get some more blending of colors which is also beautiful.
I used my vase as a decorative piece with some other purple-colored items in my office. It can also be functional though and you could add faux flowers or lights. This DIY vase idea adds a nice pop of decorative color to your home. I hope this inspired you to go use up some of those old crayons and make a very unique speckled vase yourself.

hmmm... seems to me maybe you could put shredded crayons on outside easier, maybe roll warmed vase in layer of crayons?? interesting idea, though. Looks different. :o)
Does the quality of crayon matter? I wonder if those super cheap crayons like from the kids placemats at a restaurant would melt different and look different or something.
Could you do the same thing on the outside? I love this.
