Hi! Have you tried to loosen the screws holding the bracket. I know some floating shelves have a screw that keeps the shelf in place. If you can disconnect the the shelf from that hidden screw, it should slide off. Conversely, if you can remove the bracket from the wall, that would also remove the shelf. I saw an IKEA shelf that had similar to your bracket . It probably a locking mechanism and/or screw specific to that shelf. Can the prior tenant give you any information? If they could tell you where it was purchased, that would narrow it down. In a perfect world they could tell you the trick to removing it, which was probably the last step installing it. Good luck!
Find the mounting screw.

Hope this helps:
This is often times more difficult to remove than to install. Did you install it or was it already there? Many floating shelves are secured to the wall with a bracket which has rods sticking forward which go inside the shelf to hold it up. To stop it sliding off a small screw is inserted from the top (sometimes the bottom) of the shelf down through the rod - so look around carefully on top (or bottom) of the shelf for one or two screws - when you remove them the shelf just slides forward off the rods by pulling away from the wall. Let us know if this works

The screws are going to have to be removed. Be prepared to repair the walls as well because these look like anchors and will leave a hole in the wall.
They may be on tight. Looks like rods are threaded to the wall bracket and the shelf slipped onto the rods with a friction fit. I would try to pry them off with a flat bar. Use some scrap wood to protect the wall.
Put the screw driver into the screw and tap lightly with a small tack hammer. Is should loosen the threads. Try a drop of oil on the threads if that doesn't work or use a drill with screw tip holding the drill VERY firmly into the screw head. That should loosen the bracket in the wall.
Why don't you have your real estate agent call the previous owner and ask them? If you are renting ask the landlord to call them and ask.
Have you tried twisting them? That looks like a screw that goes into the wall, so neither pulling or lifting would work.
Hi Rosie, I hope it is as simple as this video shows on your shelves.

Could they have filled the hole for the mounting screw back in with wood putty, and that's why you're unable to see it? I haven't seen brackets like this before. If all else fails, have your agent contact the previous owners to ask.
Have you tried unscrewing them? Or if it doesn't work, you can try contacting agent to ask the previous owners.
Looks like they hook on try lifting up put your hand underneath and lift they could be stuck they look like they have been there a wile
the bolt that goes through the wood is longer than you think. Look for a patched hole 4-6 inches from the wall underneath that has a set screw in it to loosen.
I understand you can’t get to the wall screws.
If you can’t find a set screw 4-6” out in the shelf,
then I’d take a rubber mallet and try pounding “up” on the underside of the brackets.
Or “punt” and take a saw to them.
Try tipping the shelf up and t.are it off
Have you tried to slide them off? If not maybe they are stuck to the wall and will need to be released.
