Refrigerator that continually fills drip tray with water & overflows?

Question

Can't afford anyone to look at it and although the temperature tested as safe etc....its driving me mad...I'm having to leave tea towels on the floor. ..which are soggy within a day. The area meant to collect the water isn't blocked- just continually overflowing! - anyone have any ideas please. ..Other than the expense of a new one! ? Thanks All x

Excess of moisture, not enough heat under the refrigerator to evaporate the water. Is the back of the fridge completely closed off? It should be. We take cardboard and tape to close them sometimes. That or a bigger drip pan. Good luck!

If the seals are old around the doors replace them. :)

It may be that your freezer needs freon.

Thanks,  ladies! This is an all fridge/ freezer appliance, bought 3 years ago.  We have it on fridge selection.  It just started leaking this fall.

We had the same problem and fixed it ourselves once we found out what was causing the leaking! It is caused by a little grommet in your p-trap drain getting clogged with gunk and then preventing water from draining into the freezer evaporator tray. We had to order a whole new p-trap drain tube kit which included a better grommet for approx. $30 and we were able to install it without calling in an appliance repair guy. Installing it did entail the removal of the freezer door and baskets but it wasn't an impossible task once we viewed the youtube video found on the internet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tk24ISRzSRs. You may have a different style frig than mine but the video will head you in the right direction. Good luck--you can do this! By the way, when we ordered the replacement kit (tube drain W10619951), we were sent two in error. If you find this is the part you need, I'd be happy to mail it to you for the cost of the shipping.

The first thing to do is to fully allow the fridge to defrost .This means about 6-12 hours turned off and doors open. Water can freeze inside the drain tube and is difficult clear. With luck, this should fix your problem.

Hello, I had the same problem with my new Maytag side by side. It had a design flaw, the drain in the freezer would freeze up, then I would have a mess on the floor. I used to empty the freezer, take it apart once a month, use my blow dryer to thaw it then pout it back together, lesson learned, I will never buy a Maytag appliance again, as they could care less about this issue.
