Hi Pamela I would try a paint stripper. The natural less toxic one is called Citra strip and it seems to work good.
Might be easier to paint over it with a solid color
If the condition of the top under the coating is patched and scratched, what is your Plan B?
As in maybe you want to re-coat it on top of the faux granite and not scrape it all off.?
Citristrip stripper should work. Made to remove layers of paint and finish.
I would try Citristrip.
