How do I stop my fuzzy blanket from shedding?
I got this real nice fuzzy blanket for a gift. The only problem is there are fuzzies every where. Even after a wash and dry. I never really saw a blanket shed like this. And I know it was an expensive one. Help me get rid of the fuzzies Please.
The softest blanket I've ever had!

What is it made of? There are sweater shavers to remove pilling, but the fibers may not work with the shaver.
Typically, a blanket should not be shedding, if well made. Does it indicate it was machine washable? What temp settings did you use? Most better blankets are line dried, but perhaps yours tolerates machine drying.
Oh my! See if this helps.

High cost doesn't always indicate quality. Just try to run thru air only cycle( alot) in dryer to see if eventually you can use it like you want. What fiber is it made of? Synthetic fibers do shed more than natural.
Hi Patti. I just completed a blanket that was a lot of $$ for the yarn to complete, and it would shed all over me when making. First remove as much of the fuzz off as possible. Wash it on gentle with a mild detergent and one cup of vinegar. The vinegar helps prevent the shedding. Then if you can, let it line dry. If you have to use a dryer clean your lint trap out half way through the cycle. I hope this works for you! Good Luck.
It's the way the fibers themselves were made, where they were chopped when extruded to make the end product feel softer. It's probably polyester.
It's going to shed a long time, sorry. I would like dry it to avoid the abrasion caused by a dryer.
If the fuzzies are pilling then buy a sweater shaver, as noted above.
Hello. That is a great question I hope an answer is posted here. I’ve been trying to make pom-poms with chenille yarn and it’s shedding like crazy and sticking everywhere almost like magnetic lead shavings. It is crazy-frustrating.
It will help I think.

To stop a fuzzy blanket from shedding, it’s best to wash the blanket in cold water. To do this, use the “gentle” cycle in the washing machine, add fabric softener, and then let it run for the entire cycle.
This will help strengthen the fibers and make sure the fuzzy blanket does not shed as soon as it is put to use.
Please note that a fuzzy blanket is still going to shed a little bit. This is a part of how the fuzzy blanket is designed. However, this trick will make sure it is not extensive and the blanket still works as you want it to.
