Living in a hurricane state, one might consider bushes instead of wood fences of any kind
Check out what thrives the best in your region, weather wise.
When I lived in The Florida, in a brand new neighborhood, in oth neighbors put up the wooden privacy fences. In one summer,v they appeared as if they were 10 years old. They looked worse after 10 years. If it wasn't for the bushes I had planted, I would have had to look at the mess the whole time.
I moved to a different State, zero HOA , I have a wire fence because of the stray animals and it hinders stray people as well but I still have bushes inside of them. One would not only have to climb a fence but fight through the bushes as well.
THE PVC fences are the prettiest but way out of my budget.

Have a question about this project?
Love this idea. Going to start looking for pallets. I wonder if there is a stain, spray or finish that you can apply to the pallets to make them more weather resistant? I would like it to hold up for many years. How long will it withstand weather as it is? Just wondering
Did you use wooden fence posts or another type of stake?
Love this idea. I think I would plant some ivy, morning glories, or something like that to climb all around the fence. I think b k that would be beautiful.
