Looking for unbreakable fairy garden figures

Question

I'm wondering if anyone has any sources or experiences with fairy garden figures that are not breakable-- something in plastic? I'd like to create a fairy garden for my grandchildren in a raised bed in their back yard (about 2'x4'.) In my own fairy garden I've used figures from JoAnn, and my grandkids have broken most of them-- they are just too fun to 'fly around' and drop. I'm not looking to make my own figures-- too time-consuming right now.  Any thoughts on how to do this? Model railroad figures?

Look in the resale shops for small children's toys, like Tinkerbell, My Little Pony, and other little plastic figurines.

You can often find small toys (sets like Fisher Price or similar or Happy Meal toys) at Goodwill or garage sales. Although they aren't traditional fairies, you could create a toy garden and use plastic items in it. The kids may have fun creating a 'neighborhood garden' for their little toy friends and still be able to play with a figurine without the hassle of breaking it.

Go to local inexpensive store, get bag of balloons, string, starch, and use old newspaper or tissue paper, ads from groceries.  Blow up balloons,  wet with starch, wrap balloon with string, soak with starch.  Let dry.  Dip paper into starch and place on balloon.  Cover several times.   After dry, poke with needle or knife point, pull out balloon.  You can paint to your liking.  Cover with decor of your own choosing.  Or have kids make u new ones.  Probably won't break their own art.

You could make some out of clothespins (or little wood figures that are just heads and bodies) and fabric or purchase them from etsy or magiccabin.com. I love making fairy gardens but this has inspired me to make fairies...which I also do...out of wood. I just never thought of combining them due to the rotting issue. If they take them inside or put them in a bucket out of the soil each time, though, that shouldn't be an issue. Lol I never thought of fairies being used as ninjas or super heroes but that is what your question brought to mind. Thanks for the giggle. Hope this helps.

Michael's (and probably other places) sell those tubes of zoo animals, farm animals etc in their kids section and there happens to be a tube that contains all fairies...I think about 8-10 of them. My grandkids love these and they hold up to our northern weather quite well.   Use your 40% off coupon to get them at a great price!
