Beading Decorative Pillows

Some time ago I was looking for a beaded pillow for a gift. I came across this one from a Design Studio, (expensive) and decided I would make some to use as gifts and also for myself. These are inexpensive to do, as beads come in many colors, sizes, etc. and don't cost very much. A scrap of fabric, and you are off to the races. These take time to do, but since I don't crochet, knit, or sew, I can do these while relaxing and/or watching t.v.
I saw this on the internet, which gave me the idea to bead my own decorative pillows.
For this one, I started with a left-over piece of fabric I already had.
I save beads and baubles from old clothing, and purchase various colors of beads from craft stores. I would guess that the cost for each pillow runs about $10. I also use antique pins passed down from family members as "accent pieces" on each pillow I keep for myself.
I just follow the designs on the fabrics and sew on the beads, using colors that accent the fabric.
Beads, beads, beads.
Finished beaded pillow.
And another.
And another. I have made a lot of these. Yes, they take time, but the end result is a beautiful piece for yourself or someone you love.
Suggested materials:
  • Scraps of fabric   (Yard sales, scraps, etc.)
  • Beads   (Old clothing, craft stores, friends.)

Beautiful ! How did you stick the beads? Or did you sew them?

Hello. Beautiful project. I have the idea myself and I have been buying design fabric leftovers to do something like that. My question is did you assemble the cushion front and back before or after making the embroidery? Thanks. Keep sharing please.
