Would it be safe to mount my tv on the wall above my gas heater? If so, can anyone offer any tips on hiding the wires, satellite box, etc?

If over mantle should be far enough to be ok. We had an electrician come in and add a plug and cable box that would fall behind the tv. Have your TV mount located so the outlets don't fall where it need to go. It was worth the trouble, no ugly wires , looks great. It also a home improvement. If you're going to use your stereo or surround sound, go ahead a run a chase to where your components will go to put the wires in the wall. Again a little more work and drywall repair but very convenient.

All you need to do is find out if the heat from the gas heater goes up to where you want the TV to be located. If it doesn't, you will be fine. There are plastic pieces that you can get at places like Home Depot, etc. to cover all the wires, even curves, corners and they come in widths to fit more than one wire. They are easy to put up and you can paint them to match your wall cover. If the covers still bother you, you can always put up knick knacks or vases, statues, etc. to put in front of them so that they are not as noticeable. I hope this helps you Nichole!

No problem. Got mine over my wood burning fireplace. I did install my own outlets and connections for the TV in the wall behind it.

Just thought about the fact that the nearest outlet is on the connecting wall! Ugh

Its a big no whatever other people say this will cut down the life of your tv in half they hate heat and are not made to withstand any sort of external heat.

    ✅ 1. Keep a safe distance

    1. Maintain 24 to 36 inches (2–3 feet) between the TV and the heater.
    2. If the heater has an open flame, even more distance is required.

✅ 2. Install a heat shelf or heat deflector

    1. Add a heat shield/heat deflector above the heater so the hot air doesn’t hit the TV.
    2. A sturdy wooden or metal shelf can help redirect heat upward.

✅ 3. Check the wall temperature

    1. Turn on the heater and feel the wall.
    2. If the wall gets too hot, it is not safe to mount a TV there.

❌ Avoid mounting a TV if:

    1. It’s directly above the heater with no heat protection
    2. Hot air blows straight on the TV
    3. The heater is old, unventilated, or produces very strong heat

Hi Nichole: It should be o.k. over the fireplace. Not sure where the outlets are located, but you can buy things to hide the wires. Wire hider for wall at Lowes.com: Search Results As for the box, you can put it into another more decorative box and drill holes to have the wires come out of the back.

We had a TV over a gas heater in one of our houses and it was fine. The only issue was, you have other make sure the heat is diverted straight out or downward...not up towards the TV

Get a mounting Kit. However most TV manufacturers recommend not to put a tv over a fireplace or gas heater. Heat will ruin your TV and the height is also not condusive for watching tv.

Use appropriate wall fixings (Brackets) and make sure you use the remote to control it.

  • Hi Nichole! Mounting a TV over a gas heater requires careful attention to heat protection and manufacturer clearance guidelines to prevent damage. To do this, install a heat shield or a mantel between the TV and the heater, ensure the TV is high enough to be outside the direct heat path, and use an adjustable mount to position the TV away from the hottest area when in use. Always follow the specific distance and heat-related instructions from both the gas heater and TV manufacturers.

  • It depends how close. We have a gas fireplace and no problem at all, but it's far above the mantel.
