1. Set the Scene
To give the illusion of a climbing wall, I decided to transform our fridge into a climbing course for our little elf.
You could also use a door, wall, or even a mirror for a similar effect, but I loved the playful vibe of him scaling the fridge!
2. Prepare the Ornaments
Instead of the traditional gift ribbons often used for this idea, I wanted to try something unique by using mini baubles as "rock climbing grips."
Attach double-sided tape to the back of each ornament.
Place them strategically on your surface, mimicking a climbing wall pattern.
3. Secure the Elf
Once the baubles were in place, I positioned my Elf so he looked like he was in mid-climb.
To keep him secure:
- Glue one foot onto a lower ornament.
- Attach his body to a middle bauble for balance.
- Secure his hands onto a higher ornament as if he’s reaching for the next grip.
4. Add Personality
To make things even more fun, I gave my climber a backpack filled with tiny ornaments, his "rock climber’s gear". This step totally nailed the adventurous vibe!
Adding those quirky little details is what makes cheeky Elf on the Shelf ideas like this one so special!

This is very cute, I can see your young one's faces lighting up when the spotted him, super way to start their and your day! I am wondering if you added more baubles above the elf so that it appears he has higher to climb, I think doing so would add to the look and to the fun.
