A Centerpiece to Light up Your Dining Table
I love changing out my dining table centerpieces. I especially love bringing the outdoors in and using natural elements and items from around my home. I will show you how to make a centerpiece I found going for $40 in some stores. There are also 2 more centerpieces I will highlight, I made these by gathering things around my house. That’s just how I roll. Lol
When I saw this log candle holder centerpiece I knew I had to have it! But for $40.00 I kept walking... all the way out the store and to the forest because the only way I was getting one is if I make it myself.
First, I found a big enough log. Then I started by cutting out holes for my candles using a drill and a 1 inch paddle but.
This is the exact drill I used.
I then sprayed the log with some clear coat to seal in the moss and bark. I recommend doing this because you don't want the log to fall apart on your table.
Once I brought it inside I centered it on my table and adorned the area with leaves and pinecones from my yard. I popped some taper candles in my log and here you go!
Isn’t it lovely?!!
I hope you enjoyed these centerpieces as much as I enjoyed creating them!!
This other centerpiece is on my back deck. I didn't build anything here but it looks so good I wanted to show it off.
I used a terra cotta plate for the base then set a tall glass vessel/vase on that. I then put a jar candle in the vase. I filled in the space around the vessel with cuttings (dusty Miller) from my flower boxes. I gathered leaves from my yard and placed them around the vase. Lastly I put some mini pumpkins in and tied a scrap of cloth around the vase for a bow.
Not only did I not spend anything on the centerpiece, everything on my table scape is thrifted!
This other centerpiece is a little softer and has more of a cottage feel.
This vessel looks vintage but it’s actually a garden pot on a pedestal from Marshall’s. You could use any pot to get this look. I added antlers some dusty Miller from my garden, mini pumpkins and a flameless candle. I like this feminine look.

I love the log centerpiece. Did you need to prep the log before using it on the table?
