How to Make Flower Press Drawer Pulls With Hot Glue

Dried flowers + hot glue = your next favorite DIY
I’ve never seen drawer pulls like this in a store and that’s kind of the point. I wanted something handmade and weirdly beautiful, so I pressed dried flowers into hot glue and let my wax seal press do the rest.
It’s fast, it’s fun, and it’s the kind of project where imperfections make it better. Want to try? I’ll show you exactly how to make your own.

Tools and Materials:
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Real dried flowers (flat works best)
- Flat drawer pulls or knobs
- Wax seal press (any shape you like)
- Metallic gold marker or gold paint pen
- Mod Podge (or clear craft sealant)
- Freezer-safe tray or small plate
- Mini screwdriver (for attaching to furniture)
- Paper towel or wax paper (for glue drips)

1. Glue and Press Your Flower
Add a generous blob of hot glue directly to the center of a flat drawer pull. Quickly place your dried flower in the glue while it’s still hot. Gently press it down using your wax seal press, making sure the flower stays centered.
2. Chill and Set
Carefully place the whole knob (flower, glue, press, and all) into the freezer for 2–3 minutes. This helps the glue harden faster and gives the press a cleaner release. While waiting, place your wax seal press back in the freezer to cool down before the next one.
3. Add a Gold Edge
Once it’s out of the freezer and fully set, gently remove the seal press. Use a metallic gold marker to outline the edges of the flower and give the pull a finished, vintage touch.
4. Seal and Protect
Apply a thin coat of Mod Podge or a clear sealant over the flower and glue surface. This helps keep everything in place and protects it from wear over time. Let dry completely.
5. Attach to Furniture
Once your new pulls are completely dry, attach them to any piece of furniture you’re refreshing. I used them on a mini shoe cabinet I refinished, and they added just the right amount of handmade detail.

Love this! That looks almost exactly like my nightstand I've had for about 65 years! I made new pulls for it by gluing the "melted glass marbles" onto wood knobs. I also did knobs for a dresser that looks similar. Didn't find those flat wood knobs like you have. Had to sand down the slightly rounded top ones. Used E6000 glue but one or two still fell off and had to be redone. Actually lost one of the glass pieces so one knob is just wood. :(
