Here is an alternative to a circular wreath using sunflowers purchased at the Dollar Store that can be used from late summer into the fall.
Begin by purchasing an 14" wire wreath form.
Because a pineapple is not circular, you will need to stretch and bend your wreath form into a pineapple shape.
Once you have the shape you like, place a piece of chicken wire over the front of the form.
Cut the chicken wire to fit the shape of the wreath leaving at least one inch of chicken wire on around the edge.
Flip the wreath over onto it back and carefully bend the chicken wire around the edges of the wreath form to attach.
The chicken wire should be on the front of the wreath form.
Carefully snip the stems of the sunflowers apart using a wire snips or heavy duty scissors. Make sure you cut at the base of the stems so they are as long as possible.
For this project I used 10 bunches of sunflowers.
Beginning at the bottom, thread the stems through the chicken wire so they are securely attached.
There is no need for glue if the stems are threaded enough times.
Continue to thread the stems until you've filled the form.
If there are any holes that were not filled by the flowers, add sphagnum moss and glue in place.
For the green top of the pineapple, remove the green leaves from the sunflower bunches.
Using a piece of wire, thread one leaf at a time onto the wire, gluing it in place.
As you add more leaves, you can glue them onto each other so they stay flat.
Make three green leave bunches.
Thread the ends of the leaf wire into the wire wreath form and glue to attach.
So your wire doesn't scratch your door or wall, lay a piece of cloth/felt on the back of the form and cut to fit.
Glue the cloth/felt onto the wreath form.
Tie a ribbon to the top of the wrearth form to hang.
Enjoy the compliments your neighbors will give you.

Very cute! I think this would also look cute as the original wreath covered in sunflowers with a pair of owls, black crows, or a scarecrow in the center with a fall ribbon bow and possibly the words "Happy Fall" or something on rustic wood sign attached.
