So you did what I just finished; double space without adding 1” to footprint. Congratulations. I added shelf in between shirts (top rod) and slacks (bottom rod) for shoes and shelf above rods for purses, and other things you keep in closet. Now cleaning floor in closet easy peasy and so nice to find what you want. Finally figured out if closet overflowing Time to get rid of unworn items. Rather than shelving on opposite wall two more rods for hanging. Add shelf between rods and above window wrap around shelf for purses and stuff needed. You can rearrange spaces without significant demo or no demo. Just use imagination to capture under used space

where do you hang your dresses?
Wouldn't this new layout be way less space than the old one ? My husband has more t-shirts than I do (I hoard tops, if that tells you anything) I don't see how this would work for someone with a ton of clothes?
