How do I bleach or otherwise lighten travertine tile?

Bleach or lighten travertine tile. I don’t want to paint, though? Thinking about hydrofluoric acid but not sure if it would ruin tile.

I would go to a Home Depot or Loews and ask them what product to use - there are tons of products on the market but you need one that suits your needs
Hi Jin. The article Deb pointed you towards is perfect for unsealed stone. However, if yours is sealed you will need to remove the sealer. Acetone will work but you must start in small sections as it dries quickly. Once you've got all the sealer off, then study the ehow to stain the travertine. Good luck!
I would not use acid, it will etch the tile and make it much harder to keep clean.
Gianni Brick Whitewash kit from Home Depot
Since travertine tile is so porous it absorbs stain very well. After staining make sure you seal it to protect both the stain and the stone.
