Painting a front door

Question

I want to paint the front door. Not sure if I can paint the screen door or if I even should.  We don't have AC so the screen door is needed, but should I do some fun color or the same color as the door?? Help!!😊

Yes, definitely paint the screen since it is the main door that is seen  from the street.  Paint your entrance door the same color or for more interest, paint it a shade lighter or darker than the screen door. This will tie the main door to the screen door. Be sure and paint the trim around the screen door the same color as the screen.

We painted ours,and ours is one of those security screen doors.We painted it the same color of the inside door.In fact we're planning on painting them both again as it's been quite a few years since it was last done and they need it again.Besides which we got a new back door earlier this year and right now they are 2 different colors,and i need them to match..Make sure you clean it real well and let it dry for a couple days.The guy at lowes sold dh a roller to paint the screen part with so the holes didn't clog up,i don't remember what it was called..

Yes paint the 2 doors the same colour. I wouldn't however paint the actual screen per se.  You can replace it with a coloured screen or a lighter aluminum one instead of having a black one. I bought a patterned screen that I like...unfortunately someone put a hole in it while trying to open our patio screen with a cooler...

I would choose a color that will blend with the brick. Maybe a burnt orange so to speak.

i am in a turquoise mode this year. it is magnificent. however the colour of your wood door stained a little darker would be beautiful. i just love real wood. then the turquoise screen door would make the colour turquoise pop. if both the same colour do you get the same impact. go to michaels and get colours in large paper and tape on the door. i alway do that an see which i like best. put them up and gradually take the ones you tire of first. hope this helps and be sure and post after pics.

If you don't use the screen door for fresh air, take it off, it is hiding what is a very pretty wood door, and as is common looking ugly.. paint door the blue or yellow you like.

I would paint the screen in several squares with different colors to give the illusion of depth of infinity!

I would definitely paint the screen door (just not the screen part). If you like what you're doing with the front door, I would do the same thing with the screen door, since it basically doubles as your front door in the hot months.  Hahaha plus it's ugly and it's the first thing people see when they come to your house - so I would want it to look just as nice as the front door. If you're staining the front door and the screen door isn't wood, maybe look into faux wood finishing with gel stain. Or maybe get a new, less obtrusive screen door with more screen, so that it wouldn't scream 'hi, I'm a screen door' quite so much.

Get 3 pieces of poster board or something and paint each of the colors that you like on them then tape it to your door for a day or so and see which one you like the most.I would do like at least a 12x12 piece,and you can get poster board at the dollar stores,at least here we can..HTH

I'd advise leaving it as is. The door looks to be in great shape. Any paint you put on it will likely not hold up as well as the factory job.  White will help keep your front room cooler. I have a new white storm door, and I would NEVER want to paint it, unless it started to peel, or otherwise look bad.

I would paint it black and the trim.  A shade that will compliment the brick.  Prep the door well, light sanding and get paid for metal and  Perhaps closely matching the lamp to the left of the door.
