Shiplap is overrated. It was a cheap and quick way to cover unfinished, uneven, and screwed up walls on home improvement TV shows.
Chalk paint and the "chippy" look done on so much furniture up-cycles and all the farmhouse signage.
I do not like Farm House or Chalk paint. People painted their kitchen cabinets with chalk paint only to find out it collects grease and dust faster and the cabinets get gunky.
All the faux items. Wood-look wallpaper and chalked/chippy finish top my list. I've never used chalk paint, I understand the appeal but it is a trap and there are so many better options out there.
I think shiplap is a bit overdone but as a homeowner of an 1880's farmhouse, I feel a little goes a long way. We covered almost all of ours with sheetrock. But you can look inside 2 closets and see the original.
All white, I would like to know who can live that way.
Painted hard surfaces that peel too easily, mostly bathrooms.
Grey on grey on grey. 😴
Painting Antiques!
Hello Amy: I'm in agreement with being tired of the shiplap and chalk paint! Also, the 'distressed' look on furniture just looks like beat up furniture :) We don't even want to start with the 'Popcorn" walls and ceiling now, do we? 😁
Subway tiles
I'd say its the gray walls for me.
Shiplap
I adore color, so I'm not fond of the greige/ white trend.
To be brutally honest, white. White walls, white kitchens, all white everything. Additionally, forcing white into dark spaces; without copious amounts of natural light, white looks dull and dingy.
I will be so happy when chalk paint goes out of it's current fad. Another is painting over beautiful natural wood grain, a gift from nature.
Hi Amy, a few trends trend I am so tired of are:
Deep and light browns, in paint and cupboards, and flooring, taupe/off white and coffee walls are so boring to me when there are so many gorgeous colours out there.
Hardwood and laminate flooring, to me they are so cold, I live in a northern climate and I really love my vinyl flooring and carpets!
