How to keep bottom sheet tight on mattress?

I do not like to sleep in bed with a loose bottom sheet. Any ideas on how to keep it tight? I have tried those clips that fit over cord 0n mattress, the clips that go from corner and even bought suspenders and clipped them apart to reach from side to side of king size bed. Help!

Try using the non skid shelf liner between mattress & box spring. Fold it so it's double layer the entire box spring. This will help. The other option is to get 1/2" elastic and sew it snug all the way around the sheet. (Think shower cap style). Hope this helps have sweet dreams.

I just changed over to sheet sets with a fitted bottom sheet.

All sheets used to come with a fitted bottom. Buying a separate flat for you bed is unusual.

My problem with todays sheets is they are made for super deep mattresses (18 inches or deeper) and mine are not as deep. The extra fabric makes for a very loose fitting bottom sheet. I have a king bed with two twin mattresses - a split king. Each side of the bed raises head and foot independently but share a common top sheet. I have the garter belts for the corners but it's the middle that needs help. I'm thinking I may need to customize the bottom sheets. I can't afford new mattresses.

Susan, you identified my problem exactly! My new queen mattress is about 14 inches deep and the newer sheets and mattress pads are all made to accommodate these hugely deep mattresses. Also, the expensive mattress pad that we got for the Tempurpedic is very flat and slick so I tried taking it off...didn't help. Next, I bought a 3" mattress topper to add more depth...didn't make a difference. Yesterday, I bought a regular cotton mattress pad that has some loft and isn't slick...we'll see, but I really think what I need is a mattress pad that doesn't have yards of elastic mesh around the edge...perhaps one that is actually made for a medium depth mattress! If you've come up with any new answers, would you mind sharing with me? THANK you!!

You can buy on ebay elastic garter belt things that are one piece.. They clip on each corner , come to "Y", about 1/3 of they down on the mattress, then there is straight piece of elastic, attached about 1/3 of the way in middle bed then it "v's" again & you attached to the end of the bed. you could sew/glue more elastic to middle straight piece if to wanted more hold. They aren't are not as complicated as it sounds. Worked for me/ pattyneal62@gmail.com

You have to go back to the old days & use the bed clips. They are not clips, but are elastic with a runner end that holds the sheet into a metal loop. Kinda like suspenders for pants.

I have had several pair. You attach to the sheet at the corners on the underneath the top mattress. it was used for FLAT sheet to hold firm at the corners, but it wo for fitted sheets when they are to large.

Make a crisp corner when folded & clipped suggly !

If you're talking about flat sheets being used on the bottom, your best bet is to use "hospital corners" (also known as mitered corners..and what the military teaches to use) when making the bed. ;-) If using fitted bottom sheets, even the best fitted bottom sheets do move around on the bed when its in use.

If it loose a good quality mattress pad should take up the slack.

If you can sew, cut wide, heavy elastic used for sleepwear (2" wide works well). Cut 4 strips, each strip about17" long. Make one 45 degree angle cut, with pinking shears, facing LEFT on the LEFT side of the strip.

Make one 45 degree angle cut, facing RIGHT, on the RIGHT side of the strip.

Repeat, 3 more times, for 4 strips, total. Make a 1/4" hem on each angle and sew down.

Place bottom sheet on bed. Attach strips at corners, using safety pins to mark attachment points.

Remove sheets, sew strips at angle points down, reinforceing with 2nd line of stitching.

Launder sheets with elastic on warm wash, low dryer heat. These have never shifted!

You may need larger strips for queen or king sheets.

Comfy Snug draw string bed sheets. I bought one and love it. Why don't more companies make the this way?

Look for sheets that don't say deep or x-deep pockets. They are hard to find though.

I wanted to share you guys what I do to keep my sheets tight. I recently bought a product called Bed Scrunchie, which really kept my sheets tight even if I turn a lot while sleeping. No joke! It has it's 360° feature which made it extra amazing, I must say. The best part is it fits to all bed sizes!! Let me know if you tried this product too, because I am really satisfied with this one. Such an amazing invention! I bought it directly on their website bedscrunchie.com :)

I absolutely hate loose fitted sheets. The best sheets I have found to fix this problem are the Sheex Original Performance. Kind of pricey but they are the only fitted sheet I will use now.

I absolutely love Sheex. Once i got past the price and tried them there was no going back. They sleep cool! I now have them on every bed in my house and even my grandson commented on how comfortable they are.

I went to the closest Rescue Mission outlet that sells older sheet sets that have been donated. I bought a few and washed them in bleach and hot water. They are much snugger than the new store-bought sheets. Works for me!

I did this... Put an inside out fitted sheet on the mattress. Pull the sheet snugly around the corners at the head of the bed. Pull the excess fabric to the foot of the bed and pull it taut. Pin as in the picture below. I pinned a separate sheet to each mattress, as one was thicker than the other. The seam was about 3” wide! I sewed through the elastic and didn’t trim the seam either which made it a pretty quick task and It worked!

I wonder if sewing a fabric panel across the bottom 1/8th of your sheet might give you that secure fit that you need.
