It would be helpful to see a picture of the chair, but my first thought was to trade your dining chairs for bar stools. If you really want a project post a picture of a chair so we know what to suggest.
Yes...photo needed.....but without seeing them. Cut off the legs at the bottom of a seat level. find some old bar stools at a 2nd hand shop and attach the top of the bar stool to the chair top. All depends on how you are using bar stools.'
need photo or description at the very least
As everyone else said, it would be easier if we saw the chairs. However, I would find some inexpensive bar stool, maybe at a flea market, or yard sale. Take the legs off your chairs, is first step. Pre drill some holes in the chair bottom, so you can screw it onto the bar stool(make sure the chair is not top heavy on the stool) Than put a chair pad on the chair, to hide the screws. This is a quick and easy way. Without seeing the chairs it is really hard to explain.
Find an inexpensive bar stool (online, flea market, yard sale) that will coordinate with your chair legs. Use those bar stool seats and attach to the chair legs by pre-drilling and screwing onto the bar stool. Without seeing the chairs, this is tough to suggest anything.
How about changing this chair into a bar stool?
I'm trying to figure out why all these folks with their supposed options to make a regular dinning room chair into a bar stool need to actually see a photo oof your chair?!! Lol! Oh and the one is my favorite. Chop your chair legs off and add them to the bar stool for height. I'm pretty sure itsyour chairs you want to keep and add height to them.
What you need to do is get the height you want, standard height is 28-32 inches on the stool because your bar height is 42-48 inches.
From here your options are endless. You can buy an inexpensive stool, remove it's back and put your chair on the stool frame, then screw down and don't forget the wood glue. Or you can have your legs cut to length at any home Depot, Lowe's, etc. Don't forget two running dowells between your bar stool legs for stability and strength. Or you can build a platform bottom and a fix your whole chair yes legs and all right to the platform .. this is my choices that I. Making with my ladder back chairs.. s
Hello, hope this helps you out.

It is a good idea if the chair seat is not too heavy for the legs. I like the idea of buying barstools that are heavy duty enough to support and fastening the chair seat to them, many unique ideas from here.
