Fixing a Warped Cabinet Door
I have a cabinet door that has been warped or twisted at the bottom for a while and it has driven me crazy. This simple task took me 5 minutes and my door is straight and my sanity saved.
Best magnet catch!
Here is my cabinet. As you can see the door is warped or twisted just enough to make it noticeable.
Material List:
- Drill
- 1/16 drill bit
- Impact Driver
- Philips head bit
- Heavy Duty Magnetic Catch
Place the catch where you think it needs to be. For my cabinet I needed to make sure the space filler board cleared the catch.
Once I found the location needed, I marked the cabinet on the sides of the catch so I could then figure out how far it needed to move forward to catch the door.
In this photo you can also see the steel piece that will get attached to the door of the cabinet. See those teeth on the corners...those are awesome and I'll show you why later.
Once I knew where everything went I pre-drilled the cabinet using the 1/16 bit.
TIP: Keep the steel piece on the magnet while attaching the catch. You won't misplace it this way.
Then I screwed the screw provided with the catch into that hole. I do one side at a time so I can adjust the catch if I needed. Repeat those steps on the other side and your catch is firmly attached to your cabinet base.
Once the catch is fixed into the cabinet you can press the door into the catch. Remember the metal part that had the teeth?
It will now be stuck into the wood door right where you need it.
I also pre-drilled this screw. I do this to minimize the chances of the wood splitting when you screw a screw into your door.
DONE!! In 5 minutes the door is fixed! I can't believe it took me this long to tackle this task!
