Yes. With acrylic or glass paint.
Hi there, there are tile paints out there if you check with one of your local hardware or home improvement stores. Or you could do a search for it.
Absolutely! I've done it very successfully in our downstairs loo. Light sanding, 2 coats of primer, and 3 coats of Ronseal floor paint. Excellent result, no scuffs, chips or scratches. Hope this helps.
Yes! Going on twelve years with a painted tile entry way.
This front door is the only entrance into our home as the back door is behind a very large gate.
Used daily by a large household and barely any noticeable spots that could use a little touch-up.
I don't know how to add pictures so I'll post my Pinterest of the photos of the Painted Tile Front Entryway.

Totally! Check out what some of your fellow Hometalkers did! https://www.hometalk.com/categories/paint/home-interior/floors
Oh, my yes. Painted this floor initially years ago. Repainted recently, one coat, same color. As you see it is a tiny floor. Note to DL Herron, it is easy to post pics on this site. At the bottom left there is a little camera. Click on that, and a box comes up, go to your desktop or photo library and choose a pick. You can even delete it and change it to another
Brush and Roller on long handle.
Yes you can. Do not skip the preparation as that is the most important part. Just remember, you will have a mess on your hands as the paint wears off after a couple years.
Try Homax tub and tile paint! It's made my PPG paints, you may find it in Home Depot.
Hi, they make special tub and tile paints now that usually come in kits with good instructions! I know Rustoleum makes one.
You can also use chalk paint to paint tile floors. You will need to put a primer first and a polycrylic on top for protection.
Chalk paint will wash and chip off . You best bet is using the kits made for that sold at Home Depot. Step by step instructions are in the kit. It a more durable epoxy paint finish. It will hold up for several years.
Years ago I painted entryway tiles with PPG black swimming pool paint. It looked like slate and lasted 15+ years when I sold the house.
For sure! We painted out back splash tiles recently. We used rustoleum tub and tile paint. Its real stinky but does the trick!
We have successfully done it more than once. The most important thing is the base (first) coat has to be oil base paint. After that dries you can put whatever you want. Our first project was our bathroom so we decided to use oil paint for both coats. We did all the tile around the tub. When we sold 29 years later it was still there. We did refresh it once after 15 years as the white got slightly creamy looking. It was so easy to keep clean. Loved it.
Most ceramic tiles can be painted, as long as it's not frequently subjected to water or heavy wear.
Yes, you have to clean well, seal with a concrete sealer and paint with a floor paint, then seal the top with a polycrylic sealer. Do not wash it for at least 2 weeks.
This is a HUGE trend. If you just pinterest painted floors you will see so many options. Most (if not all) use chalk paint (the Rust-Oleum) brand to do this and just make sure to seal with 3+ coats of poly!
Tile can be painted with the proper preparation and primer and paint.... if you want a different look.... consider stenciling the floor tile with an en caustic tile look (Google search encaustic tile... and choose the "more images" selection) for ideas.... the nice thing about paint... when you get tired of it... just paint it again
We did. I used a Rust- Oleum oil based gray paint from Lowe's. It has a very strong smell that lasts at least 2 months, airing it out regularly. Overall it looks much better but I'm not sure how long it will last.
ask at your paint store for paint than can cover concrete, usually used in basements and garages. That will adhere to your floor tile quite well.
Sand, wipe clean, prime (You can use either a shellac-based primer or an alkyd (oil-based) primer).
Then paint using semi-gloss or high-gloss alkyd paint. Apply several thin coats until you get the look you want.
Allow the paint to cure for several days before applying several coats of clear floor finish. A water-based urethane finish is a good choice for this step.
Hello, porch and floor paint will hold up the best. It is made for foot traffic.
I recommend using a stencil. You'd first need to clean the floor very well and then prime the floor. After priming around the perimeter, use a roller to save your back. Then, paint your base color and stencil over top in your choice of color. If you use floor&deck paint, it should hold up well. If you use other paint (I plan to use chalk paint on my bathroom floor), you will need to polyurethane over the paint (several coats) to preserve your hard work. You can custom order a stencil in whatever size your tiles are, which makes it pretty easy to do. Try cuttingedgestencils.com.
buy anti slip paint after rubbing down with some emery cloth to be sure that the paint stays down. eric
I woul use kilz on the tile and then use any durable paint.
I would use oil-based, it will hold up better.
If painting ceramic tile there are kits for that sold at Home Depot and step by step instructions are in the kit.
I've seen several tutorials use latex. But I think the most important part is how you seal it. 2-3 coats of polycrylic should do the trick with protecting it.
Ceramic use the epoxy kits for that sold at Home Depot. Wood, you'll need to sand, prime and paint with oil based priducts.
If it’s in good shape, and not heavy traffic, you could use I believe, porch paint.
I have painted mine twice. Once green. Now with a shiny black with gold flakes and mixed up different colors of sparkles and lightly sprinkled over the black. Just looks beautiful
Yes. Use a good bonding primer and exterior paint. Make sure to use an additive to keep it slip resistent.
You can paint and stencil, that would be beautiful. Just make sure you clean it really well and use a good primer. Can't wait to see what you decide. Good luck!
I have done this and I used floor and porch paint. It stands up well. I did them 4 years ago.
My MIL painted her tile floor and it turned out great. She said the most important part was to sealer the grout (if you don't want to paint it) cause if paint gets on it stains. She used natural sponges to get a tile look and just layered a few colors. After that she let it dry and sealed the entire thing.
Have fun!
I painted one of my bathroom floors and it has held up well. I scrubbed it and lightly sanded to prep, before using a primer. To paint, I used a an epoxy, rolling it on with a foam roller. When painting tile, keep in mind that you have the grout. Unless you choose to hand paint it in a different color after, the floor will be completely uniform. If your really crafty, you can use a stencil to add a pattern!
Use Ceramic tile paint but I could not recommend it as in time it will chip and flake, but for a short term fix of a few years, then maybe.
You could use acrylic with good primer but I would go to home improvment store for that paint

i wouldnt .. it doesnt last
You can, but you need a really good sealer and one that won't be slick when you walk on it. I'm not sure how long it will last, but I know there are lots of posts about it online.
