Rainbow Flower Step Stones

Hometalk Recommends!
Start with a bag of river stones. Pick out the broken ones and try to get a large amount that are the same size. The smaller pieces are perfect for the centers of the "flowers" and the long ones are perfect for the petals.

I love this idea, but another thing I was thinking as I read your post, painted rock edges of the garden would be very colorful and be a colorful affect for the transition of short season long season flowers. We have 4x4 plots bordered by brick edging. This is next to or drive and is the most prominent so we keep the color going. There are 5 plots and an area that looks like a sitting area but it’s set up like a picket fence with layers. We did this so that we can get out of our car and not step into a garden. It’s very inviting. So my thought is to border these gardens and th other in front of our walk way to the front door with the colorful rocks. Maybe even put glow in the dark paint on them to light the way.

Where do you buy your River rock I can’t find it
Any good fall projects?
Hi, nice project but I'm wondering if there is a reason you used the black river rock, which most expensive river rock?
A side comment to those considering this is that regular stones can be used, even from the beach etc. Also, as I am thinking about this, I think the concrete needs to be roughed to reduce possible slipping on them.
