1. Protect Fragile Items When Posting and Storing
Transporting delicate items can be nerve-wracking, but ziplock bags and straws have your back!
Insert a straw into a Ziploc, and seal the bag, leaving a small opening for the straw.
You want to try to close the bag around the straw as much as possible.
Blow into the straw to inflate the bag, creating an air cushion.
Quickly remove the straw and seal the bag completely.
Make a bunch of these to help protect items you need to post or store.
2. Make Crushed Ice in Seconds
Need crushed ice for drinks or recipes? Here’s how ziplock bags can help:
Fill a ziplock bag with water, leaving a bit of space for expansion.
Lay the bag flat in the freezer until the water is frozen solid.
Remove the bag from the freezer and bash it with a mallet or rolling pin to crush the ice.
3. Vacuum Seal Food Without a Machine
Want to keep food fresh longer? Use a water bowl to vacuum seal like a pro:
Begin by pouring your food item into the resealable bag.
Fill a large bowl or stock pot with water and lay a towel nearby.
Leave one corner of the bag open and lower it into the water slowly.
The water pressure will push air out of the bag.
Seal the bag completely once the air is removed.
Dry the bag on a towel before storing or freezing.
4. DIY Funnel for Pouring Liquids
Forget scrambling for a funnel when you need one. A ziplock bag works in a pinch:
Take a sandwich-sized ziplock bag and snip off one corner.
Hold the bag over the container you want to fill, with the cut corner pointing downward.
Pour the liquid into the bag and let it flow through the hole into your container.

I separate meat packages down into meals for one. I put the separated meat into ziplock sandwich bags, remove as much as you can. Then I take a QT freezer ziplock bag and place the. Individual bags in the QT bag. Seal it with as much air removed as I can get. It saves space in the freezer and it's easy to know how many you have left in order to buy more.
