How to Make a Glam Dollar Tree Wall Sconce

There’s something so satisfying about turning a handful of inexpensive Dollar Tree finds into decor that looks way more expensive than it actually is.

If you love budget-friendly DIY projects that look designer-inspired, this Dollar Tree wall sconce is such a fun one to try.

It’s easy enough for beginners, doesn’t require power tools, and adds a gorgeous glow to any space.

Tools and Materials:

  • 1 Dollar Tree napkin holder
  • 2 small mirrors
  • Glass gems or decorative glass beads
  • 3 Popsicle sticks
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • 2 Dollar Tree puck lights
  • 4 Command strips

1. Attach the Mirrors Together

To create the base for the sconce, I started by connecting the two mirrors together. I used three Popsicle sticks across the back as braces and secured them with hot glue.

This gives the mirrors enough support to stay firmly connected while keeping the project lightweight enough to hang with Command strips later.

Be careful not to use too much glue here. A little goes a long way, and excess glue can create uneven spots.

2. Glue the Napkin Holder to the Front

Next, I grabbed the Dollar Tree napkin holder and attached it directly to the front center of the mirrors using hot glue.

The napkin holder instantly creates the shape of the sconce and gives you the perfect spot to hold the lights later on. I centered mine carefully before pressing it into place.

At this point, it already started looking like a real decor piece instead of a pile of dollar store supplies. That’s always my favorite moment in a DIY project!

3. Add the Glass Gems for Sparkle

Now for the fun part. I used hot glue to attach glass gems all the way up the sides and center of the napkin holder.

This step completely transforms the project. The gems catch the light beautifully and give the sconce that glam, sparkly finish. You can use clear gems for a crystal-inspired look or mix in colored ones to match your decor.

I found it easiest to work in small sections so the glue wouldn’t cool before placing the gems.

The reflective mirrors combined with the faceted glass gems bounce light around the room, making the sconce appear brighter and more expensive-looking. It’s a simple trick decorators use often with mirrored decor.

4. Add the Puck Lights

Once the gems were attached, I tucked two small Dollar Tree puck lights into the center of the napkin holder.

These battery-operated lights are perfect because there are no cords to deal with. They give off a soft glow that reflects beautifully against the mirrors and gems.

If you want an even cozier look, try warm white puck lights instead of cool-toned ones.

5. Hang the DIY Wall Sconce

To hang the sconce, I attached four Command strips to the back of the mirrors.

I took it over to my living room wall, pressed it firmly into place, and held it there for about 30 seconds to make sure everything adhered properly.

The final result absolutely sparkled once the lights were turned on. Honestly, nobody would ever guess this entire project came from Dollar Tree materials.

Extra Tips for a High-End Look

Use Matching Gems

Keeping all the glass gems the same size and color gives the sconce a cleaner, more polished appearance.

Try Different Mirror Shapes

Square mirrors work beautifully, but round mirrors could create a softer, more modern look.

Add More Lighting

For extra brightness, you can use stronger LED puck lights or even remote-controlled versions.
