How To Hang An Outdoor Clock On Your Front Porch

Outdoor clocks and front porches go together like rocking chairs and lemonade. Outdoor clocks come in a variety of styles, some are clocks only while others are both clocks and thermometers. The clock we decided to hang on our porch is basically a time piece with a small thermometer on both sides.
Methods vary for attaching clocks to your front porch:
-If you have wood columns you can simply attach the clock directly to the wood with screws.
-Likewise if you have vinyl column wraps. You can simply screw the clock through the column wrap and directly into the wood behind it.
-If you have masonry columns you can use screws meant for such materials.
-If you are attaching your clock to brick you can purchase special clips that attach to your brick for such purposes.
We faced with a slightly different issue: hollow supporting vinyl porch columns and we thought we would share with you how we hung our clock. Find step-by-step instructions, plus a how-to video here:

The clock on this wonderful porch served as our inspiration - clocks and porches go together beautifully!
Dave takes you through each step to ensure your clock will remain secure through all the outdoor elements.
Our installed thermometer clock looks great!
A close-up shows how the wood plate blends nicely with the vinyl post - and provides the needed secure foundation.

Thank you so much, Alexandra and Miriam. We are crazy about porches! We're loving our new clock. It gives our porch a vintage feel - kind of like an old train station.
