How to Make a DIY Bowl of Out of Seashells... Using a Balloon!
I used a balloon to help me glue the seashells together to form a DIY bowl or vase. Once I was done and the glue was dried I popped the balloon and the DIY shell vase was ready! Let me show you how easy this was to create.
Tools and materials:
- Seashells (various sizes and shapes)
- Balloon
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Optional: Decorative items like pearls, beads, or sea glass
How to make a DIY shell bowl
Step 1: Inflate the balloon
I blew up the balloon to the desired size for the vase I wanted to create. Remember that the balloon's size will determine the size of the bowl or vase.
Step 2: Apply hot glue to seashells
I applied the glue to the edges of each seashell and placed it next to or overlapping a shell so they would stick together.
Step 3: Arrange seashells on the balloon
I glued seashells onto the balloon's surface, pressing them gently together and overlapping them slightly edge to edge so they adhered. I covered half of the balloon with shells.
Step 4: Let the vase dry
I allowed the glue to dry completely.
Step 5: Pop the balloon
Once the vase was completely dry and hardened, I carefully popped the balloon using a pin. The balloon deflated inside the shell vase and left a hollow vase structure. I carefully pulled out any remaining bits of the balloon from inside the vase. Look for any loose shells that may need more glue.
I did not do this, but you can glue on embellishments like pearls, beads, or sea glass if you want. I love this DIY shell vase.
DIY bowl with shells
I use it to display greenery but you can use it as a DIY shell bowl to hold anything. Let me know what you think in the comments.
