How to Make a Wall Mirror With a Tire

Used tires are usually filled with dust, grease, or other dirt, so it's important to clean your wheel thoroughly before you start making your mirror for the wall. Do it first with a hard bristle brush, rubbing the entire surface tightly, and then use a scouring pad with water and an anti-gring product. Don't forget to go over the grooves well!

The frame of this mirror is made with half a tire, so you must make a horizontal cut on your rubber to keep one of its halves.

The operation will be more or less complex depending on the wheel you use: in this case, since it is a not very thick motorcycle tyre, it was enough a cutter to do so. If this is your case, draw the cutting line with a pen and make a first incision with the cutter, whose blade must be affiliated. Then, insert a ribbon or other object to help you open the hole, moisten the area, and gradually cut.

If in your case the tire is thicker, you will need a jig saw.

Cut a piece of circular wood to use as the mirror base. It should measure the same as the diameter of your tire, as it will fit into its back, at the height of the edge.

To make it, you can use a bar as a compass. Screw it slightly to the center of the board and make a hole at a distance from that point that equates to the radius of the circle you want to draw - which has to be the same as the tire. Pass the tip of a pencil through the hole and rotate the slat on itself, tracing the figure.

When you have it, cut with a jig saw and sand the edges.

Use a manual stapler to attach the circular piece of wood to your pneumatic medium. Fit the piece on the back of the tire, at the height of the edge you cut it from, and place staples all over the perimeter.

With the main structure already assembled, it's time to paint. If you want the task to be quick and effective, use some spray paint, as we have done. Remember that when using this type of product, you must take short passes to cover the surface and apply several layers, leaving a few minutes between them.

When the paint is well dry - always respect the times recommended by each manufacturer - place the structure face up and glue your round mirror over the wood, centered on the tire hollow. Do it with a little mounting adhesive, a product capable of withstanding vertical and heavy loads. Let it dry too and you're done!

All you have to do is place a socket on the back and hang it wherever you like.
