Holiday Yarn Trees
With just a handful of supplies you can make different sizes and different colors of these yarn trees for the holidays. A very easy project that can be done with kids as a hot glue gun isn't necessary.
Pick some Christmas colored yarn in different thicknesses and textures. Try not to get yarn that is too thin or that makes the project go a little longer! You don't have to stop at yarn. Add whatever decorations you like to your finished yarn tree. A string of tiny battery powered lights or a star, anything is possible.
I found these yarns at Michaels, but for any knitters out there, I'm sure you have yarn kicking around that you could use up. The Martha Stewart eyelash yarn was used for the bottoms of the trees.
With simple white glue, apply the glue in small sections and wind the yarn in spirals on top of the glue.
Display them on candle holders or on some batting for snow. Use lights to pretty up the display even more.
Use traditional red and green or go with your own Christmas color them with bright yarn. These trees are lightweight and oh so easy to pack away afterwards.

I agree! These are adorable. I have been making the winding yarn trees but this is a new concept& I REALLY LIKE THEM!! Two questions though, will the white glue hold the little curly yarn on as you go up the tree or do you need something to hold them on there till they dry? Would hot glue be easier? I also assume you cut the yarn for each curlique - don't you have trouble with ends sticking up?
