How to Make DIY Giant Lollipop Decorations for a Candyland Christmas

1. Cut round discs

My husband cut me some 12" round discs out of scrap plywood but you can purchase the rounds at most lumber stores too.

Materials needed for each lollipop:

• (1) wood round 12" diameter
• (2) 1/2" pipe clamps
• (4) wood screws
• (1) Dollar Tree mop
• (1) Dollar Tree shrink gift bag w/ bow
• (1) zip tie
• (1) 3 ft pc of rebar (if using outdoors)
• White paint
• Cricut glitter vinyl or colorful paint

2. Paint the discs

Give the wood rounds a coat of white paint. I hate waiting for paint to dry when I'm ready to move on to the next step...

3. Add the lollipop swirl

I sure love my Cricut machine! I had a stash of glitter vinyl that I used to cut out a great-looking swirl to apply. But you can go cheap and paint on a lollipop swirl instead!

The sticker I made applied so easily to the wood rounds and looks great! It's getting a bit exciting...

4. Make the lollipop sticks

Unscrew the mop head. You can use the mop heads as replacements when you actually mop so no need to toss them! Pull off the top plastic hanging portion of the mop to expose the opening to the handle.

You'll need a piece of rebar measuring about 3 ft long for each lollipop. You can buy 10 ft long rods and cut them (if you have the tools) or buy in 3 ft lengths.

5. Attach the stick to the lollipop

Using wood screws and pipe clamps, attach your mop handle to the back of your lollipop. The open end is on the bottom so you can later slip onto the rebar that's in the ground.

6. Wrap the lollipop

Insert your lollipop into a shrink-tight gift bag from Dollar Tree and zip-tie it snugly at the base.

7. Shrink the wrap

Using your blow dryer shrink it snug on the wood round. I don't know why I get such a kick out of watching it shrink but I do lol.

8. Attach the bow

Attach the bow that comes with the clear gift bag to each lollipop. As you can see, I made six lollipops. I would've made more, but hubby claims to have run out of plywood!

9. Hammer the rebar into the ground

To use them outdoors for your own Candyland Christmas display, hammer the rebar into the ground and slide your open-ended mop handle onto the rebar.
