From Garbage Bin to Winter Planters
The look this year for winter planters seems to be wood, particularly a birch bark look. I unfortunately refuse to pay the outrageous price most want for these planters. I was searching for a container to use to create my own and found the perfect thing at my go to place. The Dollar Store of course!

So I know this seems kind of strange but trust me. It's going to look great. I bought 3 of these. They had a white powder on them so I wiped them with a damp cloth.
So my other purchase from the Dollar store was this Peel and Stick Vinyl Plank Wood. I bought two of these. By now you should be able to get an idea where I'm headed with this idea of mine. You are going to take a piece of the Peel and stick plank, remove backing and begin wrapping your garbage bin with it. Rub with your hand to remove air bubbles. One piece will not go around the whole bin so you will have to cut and piece. Repeat process for two other bins.
So here is the finished bins.
Next I added some soil from my garden to my bins this is to put my greenery in. If you don't have a garden, you can buy bags of soil at Home Depot , Walmart etc. Fill bins about 3/4 quarters full.
I am fortunate that I don't have to buy my greenery. I cut every year from my mom's yard. You can get greenery free from tree lots, or check out your Home Depot, mine is now selling planter kits that includes your greenery and fillers. You can also purchase from garden centers individually. Begin filling your bin.
So here is my planter complete. Two more to go!
I love how these turned out. You can choose to add a bow. You can check out my cross country skis post to see how to make them.
These were super easy to make and total cost was $14.00!

Nice idea but looks a little cluttered and overdone. The porch isn’t big enough for all the items, but nice concept

Have a question about this project?
Why did you use dirt when you don't have live plants in them? Isn't there other things heavy enough that would work just as well, possibly at less cost?
I love this idea and yours are beautiful!
How does the peel and stick plank hold up in the winter . Outside if it’s wet or in rain
