Christmas Decor for Kitchen Cabinets: A Quick & Cozy Idea You'll Love

When it comes to the holidays, I can stretch the season out for months.

I don’t just love Christmas decorations – I adore them! Every house is decked out in its best, and everyone seems a little brighter.

As soon as Thanksgiving wraps up, I’m in full holiday decorating mode, and it usually takes until mid-January before I take everything down. But if there’s one room I’m excited to spruce up, it’s my kitchen!

Every room in my house deserves its own holiday magic, including the kitchen. I want my family to feel the holiday spirit even when they’re reaching for a morning mug of cocoa or coffee. So I started with a super simple Christmas coffee nook project that’s fun, quick, and cozy.

Let me share exactly how I made this little festive setup under the cabinet – it was a breeze!

Decorate your kitchen for Christmas with this bestseller tension rod that Amazon reviewers swear by!

1. Pick Your Spot for Some Holiday Cheer

I chose a cozy area under my kitchen cabinet where I set up a coffee nook with my favorite holiday mugs, mini baubles, and a few little flocked Christmas trees.

Under-cabinet space is great for adding décor because it keeps everything off the counter – no clutter but all the charm!

I found a wooden tray to hold everything together, making it look like a little coffee shop corner.

2. Hang the Tension Rod

Next up, I placed a simple tension rod under the cabinet. It’s perfect for holding holiday decorations without making any permanent changes to the kitchen.

You can get these at almost any store, and they work wonders for spots like this.

3. Wrap the Garland

Now, let’s bring on the sparkle!

I wrapped some of this pretty gold tassel ribbon around the tension rod. I found at the craft store.

Once, I had wrapped some of the gold tassled ribbon, I used a string of mini Christmas lights to weave between the gold.

How to make a quick and easy garland

It was definitely not full enough, I needed some greenery.

4. Add Decorative Elements for Extra Cheer

For that final touch, add whatever decorative elements you prefer. Mini baubles would be gorgeous on this yuletide garland.

This little addition gave my coffee nook just the right dose of sparkle, making it look like a mini winter wonderland!

I love how it catches the light and adds a pop of color. The hint of gold ribbon in the kitchen keeps it festive without overwhelming the space – it blends perfectly with my backsplash.

It's pretty, but I won't be able to do that in my kitchen.

What really caught my attention is your knife box! Love that and how it takes up so much less room than my traditional knife block. Did you make it, or buy it? I've never seen one like that.

Gonna start looking for an appropriate size box and try to make one myself lol Deep cereal box? Put something in the bottom to weigh it down and fill it with a filler (like yours appears to have) and wa-la!

When I first started reading I thought it was going to be another clever way of hanging mugs and small kitchen utensils. Might be a good idea. You won't need a wall at each end you can screw in a hook or eye hook to hold the rod even a dowel will work. :)

Hi Rac, my Sister and I used to have a florist shop and what we did was to buy adowel with two wooden rod holders and slide all the ribbon we use on it. it was on the wall behind our work table so it was very convenient. Our shop was one big room and our work area was not hidden from customers. They seemed to like watching us work.
