Loopy Yarn Santa Gnome Wreath
Get in the holiday spirit with this gnome-inspired DIY Loopy Yarn Christmas Santa Wreath this season. It's made with a dollar store tinsel sign as the base!
This is a Dollar Tree sign. It's very simple to unravel. Once you start, it just unwinds very easily.
I saved the little embellishments to decorate my Santa. When I was done, I ended up just using the little holly leaves embellishment on my Santa's hat.
Here is what it looks like with the tinsel completely removed.
Then, I use a skein of white loopy yarn to create the beard.
If you look at the santa hat form, you'll see these little nubs that stick out. They are perfect to hook a loop of the loopy yarn.
You'll cut several pieces of loop yarn to make the beard.
First, fold a piece of loopy yarn in half. Start on the front side of the frame and feed the folded center of the yarn through the top of the "brim of the hat" section. Feed it down the back to the little nubs sticking out and hook a loop of the yarn on a nub.
Once hooked, give a gentle pull on the yarn from the front to make sure that loop is taut on that little nub. Do this same thing until you've covered all the little nubs.
Flip over the frame to the backside and add a dollop of hot glue on each nub to keep the loops attached.
Next, we will wrap the top of the wreath form with stuffing and slide the Santa hat over it.
Then, we'll create the nose with an old pair of pantyhose and some stuffing.
Tie the nose just right above the beard. Pull the hat down and hot glue it around the nose and beard. You might need to hold the hat while it dries, so it won't pull up.
Here is the finished look! I just love it!

Hi All, for more info go to her link right above the " have any questions" area. Stephanie has a more detailed tutorial on her blog. For places to get the items needed to make this adorable Santa, go to your local craft store or dollar store, Walmart or similar or even use your imagination and raid your closet for items you do not wear anymore. You can use as Kimberly Hendrix said a mop head or two from the dollar store or you can use an old white sweater that you cut into strips, or a piece of muslin you can do the same with. The hat you can make with felt or similar or even use a pattern such as a buffalo plaid, you can even reuse the tinsel from the original door hanger, the nose is self explanatory. Relax and use your imagination and have fun. Thank you Stephanie for a great idea and have a Merry Christmas
