Repurpose Ugly Neckties Into Beautiful Christmas Ornaments
This simple and easy project will turn those ugly neckties that every father has in their closet into beautiful and elegant Christmas ornaments. I was inspired to do this project when I saw sweater ornaments on Pinterest made with embroidery hoops.
Gather your supplies: 3" wooden embroidery hoop, necktie, and embellishments.

Turn the tie over and remove the stitching to open up the tie. To make it more manageable, you can iron your tie flat using the rayon/silk setting with a little steam. Optional: you can remove the white interfacing or you can use it as part of the ornament but it will add bulk.
Loosen the hardware on the outer hoop and remove the inner hoop. Turn the tie over to the right side. Select an area of the tie that you want to use and put the inner hoop under that area of the tie. Put the outer hoop with the hardware over the inner hoop to encase the fabric. Tighten the screw on the outer hoop to secure the fabric in place. Pull on the excess fabric to pull the fabric taut. Tighten the screw some more if needed. Turn the tie over to the wrong side and cut away the excess fabric as close to the hoop as possible.
Clean up the excess fabric from the backside of the ornament as much as possible. Optional: you can spread some glue around the seam of the hoop to secure the fabric in the hoop or even add some lace.
I decided not to add lace to my ornament. This is the front side once the fabric is taut and excess fabric removed.
Carefully add your embellishments. Don't push to hard on the fabric so the fabric doesn't come out. I lightly glued on a dimensional gold poinsettia sticker by putting my fingers underneath the fabric on the backside to help support the fabric while I slightly pushed on the embellishment to make sure it adheres to the fabric.
Using the opening under the screw, add a hanger made with a piece of jute or ribbon and hang your beautiful ornament on your tree. For embellishments, use holiday dimensional stickers, stick-on jewels, or foam cut-outs or just leave plain if you like the fabric.
