How to Make DIY Decoupage Christmas Ornament

Do you choose a color theme for Christmas decorating? I normally do a colorful palette or metallics, but this year I’m trying something new. Read on for more.
I have the cutest blue and white chinoiserie Christmas tree statue! Do I need a chinoiserie tree statue? No, I have so many decorations but it was too pretty to pass! My home style is a bit Grand Millenial and I do have a bit of chinoiserie scattered around, so the tree does fit in. The thing is, I don’t have a ton of blue and white or chinoiserie style Christmas decor.
What I Used
I had a piece of blue and white floral multipurpose paper from Paper Source that I never used and I ordered some paper napkins from Amazon too. The napkins are thin, so best to be cautious when applying them. The white of the napkin may be too translucent for some, but I don’t mind.
Spread thin layer of Modge Podge onto ornament.
Believe it or not, this is my first go with Modge Podge. It is super easy to use! I am looking around the house to see what else needs some decopauge.
Press paper of your choice onto ornament.
Make sure to align the paper so that a nice focal point, in the case above it is the bird, is centered.
Trim paper and glue a new piece of paper onto other side.
I debated wrapping the napkin and paper all the way around, but decided it might look cleaner to cut two separate sections. This is especially helpful with thicker paper to help prevent bulky creases.
Let the Modge Podge dry for 24 hours, then cover paper with thin layer of Modge Podge to seal.
Decorate with your ornaments!

You should be able to use that on a lampshade. Just keep your layers light and it should be very pretty. Good luck

Great idea for kids too. Mod podge is easier to use and clean up. Also this makes for a "perfect" ornament for kids who get frustrated painting.
