DIY Candyland Christmas Ornaments

The first thing you want to consider when creating your candyland themed Christmas is having your tree flocked. The snow effect adds that fantasy element that just screams scrumptious! Spray snow would work as well, and they sell that at discount stores for less than $2. Ivory snow and water, mixed into a thick paste can also be used as a tried and true “flocking”.

Small Candy Lollipop

Place small candies into a large bowl. (We actually found these colored styrofoam balls that looked like candy) Spread the disk with ordinary white glue, then dip into candies and let dry, Repeat on other side. You may have to add a little more to fill in bare spots after its dried. Insert wooden dowel as lollipop stick. Spray lightly with glitter spray, let dry.

Rope Lollipop Ornament

This ornament did not use foam, but simply rope style candy found at the dollar store. Let the candy dry out a little so it is not sticky, and slightly stiff. Using a glue gun, create a coil with the rope, gluing as you go. Add more ropes until you have your desired size. You may need an extra hand for this stage of the process. (There is a reason we use a low-temp glue gun! Ouch!) Insert a wooden dowel for the stick. We had to sharpened the stick end just slightly with a pair of scissors. Allow it to dry overnight to let the candy harden. Spray lightly with glitter spray.

Peppermint Candy Lollipop Ornaments

Using an artist brush and ordinary craft paint, freehand the swirls of a peppermint candy onto a foam disk. You can practice first on a piece of cardboard, but it helps to have a photo or an actual candy to follow. Tip: Make sure there is plenty of paint on the brush, and you will get smooth lines… Allow to dry. Insert wooden dowel for stick. Wrap with clear cellophane and tie with ribbon.

Candy Ball Ornament

Both the gumball and marshmallow ornaments are done simply with a glue gun. We used a twisted piece of floral wire as a hanger. As we inserted the hanger into the foam, we added a dab of hot glue to secure.
