Create your own Halloween garland with these recommended wooden ornaments that Amazon reviewers swear by!

Tools and materials:

  • Color Me ornaments (or similar)
  • Paint (colors of your choice)
  • LED tea lights (battery-operated)
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • String or twine (for hanging)
  • Paintbrushes

1. Paint the ornaments

Kickstart this DIY Halloween garland by grabbing your Color Me ornaments, which you can pick up at Dollar Store or similar places.

Choose your favorite paint colors— Halloween-themed colors like orange, black, purple, and green work great! Use a paintbrush to decorate each ornament however you like, adding details like stripes, polka dots, or even spooky faces.

Tip: Let your creativity run wild! You can paint pumpkins, ghosts, bats, or anything Halloween-related.

2. Let the paint dry

After you’ve painted your ornaments, set them aside and allow the paint to fully dry. This will ensure the next steps go smoothly without smudging your design.

3. Attach the LED tea lights

Once the paint has dried, take your battery-operated LED tea lights. Using a hot glue gun, very carefully glue the tea lights to the back or inside of each ornament.

The tea lights will give your Halloween garland that magical, glowing effect when it’s turned on.

4. String the ornaments

After the LED lights are attached and secure, it's time to string the rest of your Halloween lighted garland together.

Take a piece of string or twine and thread it through the top of each ornament. You can tie a small knot around each one to keep them in place or space them out however you like.

Tip: Twine adds rustic charm to your Halloween banner, but any type of string will work!

5. Display your Halloween garland with lights

Once all your ornaments are strung, your Halloween garland is ready to hang. Drape it over a mantle, window, or across a wall to create a festive Halloween atmosphere.

Turn on the LED lights and watch your garland glow!
