DIY Chippy Farm Table W/Mismatched Chairs!

I sold my counter height table months ago and couldnt decide exactly what i wanted for a kitchen table. I finally figured out the direction i wanted to go and got to building! My house is newer, but i try to add in character wherever i can. I think this table is just perfect!

I decided on a table that was 8 ft long and a little over 3 1/2 wide - it fits 8 comfortably but can seat 12.

As you can see, i kept the casual farmhouse vibe with painted mismatched chairs. All chairs were painted with various colors of Sweet Pickins Milk Paint for a chippy look.

I purchased new legs from Osborne Wood and found reclaimed barn wood on our local classifieds.

I built the table in my shop - this is the basic layout of the build.

I wanted a chippy worn look, so i used Sweet Pickins Milk Paint in Flour Sack - it came out perfect!! I stained the raw wood prior to painting and gave the raw wood a couple coats of a spray lacquer before painting so that my milk paint would chip.

The wood i found, came from the roof of an old barn. It was somewhat protected by the elements and has an amazing patina! The wood wasnt dried out like a lot of other barn wood and sanded up easily. After giving it a few passes with 120 grit paper on my orbital sander, i clear coated it with 3-4 coats of Varathane Floor Finish.

After building the table, i got all my chairs and had a painting party (with myself!).

Table built and i love it!!

Perfect for my house!

These little corbels at the end were the perfect finishing touch :)

Hi! I love this table!
Just a couple questions - how did you make the table top; did you have to glue the boards together or are they just attacached to the 2x4 cross pieces?
Did you get the corbels from Osborne too? thank you so much!

I love this! All my chairs are the same color and are a light brown I want a darker look to come through. Can I paint them black or a dark brown before using the milk paint and sanding them? What do you think? Also, did you put a finish on the chairs?
